THE ROMAN CATHOLIC ARCHBISHOP OF TUGUEGARAO
DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST,
Peace be with you!
As our nation commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution this February 22–25, let us join the whole country in gratitude and prayer. Though far from EDSA, we are one with those who will gather in Manila as we remember the legacy of a moment when faith, courage, and the determination of ordinary citizens peacefully restored democracy to our nation.
This remembrance is not only about the past; it is a call to the present. The freedoms regained through sacrifice must be safeguarded by a renewed commitment to truth, accountability, transparency, and ethical governance. In a time when these values are often tested, the spirit of EDSA reminds us that vigilance and active participation are the price of our freedom. Inspired by this spirit, may we resist indifference and work for the common good, guided by the values of the Gospel.
As the prophet Micah reminds us:
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
(Micah 6:8)
